Biography
Greetings, I am Gabriel Stephen.
In May of 2012, I graduated from Southeast Missouri State University in Cape Girardeau, Missouri, USA with three degrees and a minor: Bachelor of Science in Advertising, Bachelor of Science in Public Relations, Bachelor of Arts in Philosophy, and a minor in Criminal Justice. In August of 2014, I completed a Masters program in Strategic Communication and Leadership from Maryville University of Saint Louis in St. Louis, Missouri, USA. And in the fall of 2015, I began pursuing a Ph.D. in Mass Communication at the University of Florida in Gainesville, Florida, USA.
My research interests are concentrated in intercultural communication; specifically, I would like to understand how culture influences our relationships in a globalizing world. The goal of my studies are to go deeper than just representations of culture, I try to incorporate psychological and sociological factors which are even more fundamental than culture alone. My studies on culture have spanned various fields in public relations including: education, crisis communication, transnational organizations, and nonverbal communication. I have conducted research in both the U.S. and abroad to better ensure the authenticity of my studies.
Eventually, I plan on using my insight in intercultural communication as a practitioner in the public relations industry. I would like to work for a multinational organization with a dedicated socially-conscious initiative (office, department, or program). Ideally, I would like to have a public relations position that would allow me to positively affect publics around the globe with authentic and meaningful programs.
